Of course we begin with the Palace, whose decadent Garden Court Restaurant has offered San Francisco afternoon tea for over a century. Now adorned with a massive Christmas tree, Garden Court is offering two holiday tea services. For $120 per adult and $60 per child, you can try out their seasonal Nutcracker tea and indulge in holiday-inspired scones, sandwiches and more. Slightly pricier is the Santa tea service, where for $140 per adult and $70 per child, Santa Claus makes an appearance.

Wed–Sat 2pm–4pm through Dec 23.

The Fairmont Hotel, a Nob Hill institution and Joe Biden’s favorite stay in the city, offers a refined afternoon tea nestled among the pillars of Laurel Court. With eight tea varieties all produced by the hotel’s brand Lot 35, the Fairmont’s holiday service is available at $169 per adult and $95 per child. Enjoy the sophistication of a duck rillette sandwich while gazing at a giant gingerbread house.
