October in the Bay Area means Fleet Week and the booming sounds of the longest-running flight demonstration squadron in the country, The Blue Angels. The big question every year remains unchanged — what’s the best place to watch it all? Here are some of the top spots to take in the action taking place from October 6–8.

Crissy Field

It may seem obvious — and you’ll have to arrive early as it’s so popular — but a spot here guarantees planes flying directly overhead (if you’re into that kind of thing!).

Marin Headlands

No need to cross the bridge! Experience incredible sights and smaller crowds from popular spots on Slacker Hill and Battery Spencer.

Pier 39

Far enough east of the air show that you’ll be able to see most of the flying formations, PIER 39 has the added benefit of dozens of dining options steps away.

Top of the Mark

Experience the Angels at eye level at the iconic restaurant and bar. Located on the top floor of the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill, it’s hard to get closer.
