Most people might not think of Kauai as being the spot for great burgers, but those people are wrong. The North Shore of Kauai including Princeville, Hanalei, and Kilauea, has some exceptional burger joints that are sure to not only surprise your taste buds, but to excite them. With fresh ingredients and locally sourced meats and produce, the island of Kauai is no stranger to making a delicious burger. We’ve went ahead and chosen our three favorite burger restaurants on the North Shore that you’ve got to check out.
But wait, there’s more. We’re here to help demystify some of the unusual words you might see on menus like furikake, laulau and lilikoi — and explain which meat is being served and why. And possibly most importantly of all, provide the fun facts on the origins of local dishes.

This old-school Kauai dive bar has been featured on Eater.com and was used as a set location for The Descendants. Maybe it’s the decor, maybe it’s the people, maybe it’s the live music, but whatever “it” is, Tahiti Nui is a great place to enjoy a burger and a beer. Open Monday and Wednesday 11am to 3 pm, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11am to 9pm, and Sundays 9am to 9pm. Closed Saturdays.
