Baldwin Beach Park is a favorite spot for beach walks, runs, and swims. On any given day, you’ll find people fishing, swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying themselves along this strech of white sand backed by coastal dunes. Located just outside of the North shore town of Paia, this beach offers something for everyone.

Water Sports:

On days when the swell is up, this is a great beach for boogie boarding and body surfing. You’ll also see many people swimming just off shore, heading out to go spear fishing, or launching their stand up paddle boards for a downwinder. The East end of the beach offers a cove that is protected from the wind and waves creating a calm place to swim, while at the West end you’ll find Baby Beach which is a large protected tide pool area. The beach is ideal for a long walk or run, especially early in the morning or at sunset. There is one lifeguard stand directly in front of the parking area.

Shade:

There is a good amount of shade both at the East end at Baldwin cove, and also if you walk West down the beach from the parking lot. Even on crowded days, you can find an area to set yourself up for a relaxing day.

Food:

There are no food vendors at Baldwin Beach park. Paia is a very short distance away, and it’s a great spot to pick up a snack. Stop in at Mana Foods for some healthy fare, or choose from one of the many restaurants and coffee shops for a snack.

Directions and Parking:

Hours are posted as 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., though gates don’t typically close until after sunset. There is lots of free parking, but on beautiful days, it can still be tricky to find a spot. There is a shower and restrooms as well a large grass field that is often used for local sporting events.

What’s in a Name:

Baldwin Beach Park is name for Harry A. Baldwin, son of the co-founder of Alexander & Baldwin, Henry P. Baldwin. The County of Maui acquired the Park in 2014.
