Crab Season, Sports and Everything Autumnal in San Francisco, from Grand Hyatt’s Concierge

Fall trips to San Francisco showcase the culture, food, nature and everything else that the city by the bay has to offer. The weather remains surprisingly temperate, and summer crowds thin, letting you skip the lines for the Alcatraz ferry or that Friday night dinner reservation. Plus, with holidays and three-day weekends close at hand (Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving breaks, etc.), San Francisco may be the exact destination to work into your busy schedule.

Welcome to Concierge Corner, where we speak with hospitality experts to get the scoop on visiting San Francisco. To learn even more about crafting a supreme fall trip to San Francisco, we spoke with Concierge Liz Baca Pryfogle from the Grand Hyatt San Francisco

Favorite fall activities in San Francisco?

My favorite fall activities are 49ers football and Warriors basketball. Nothing beats game day excitement. The concierge can help you score great tickets and plan the best way to make it to the game on time. Don’t forget to grab your favorite player merch! #Curry30

New spots that are worth the hype?

The hype is truly real! Dash over to indulge in the Martini Cart experience at Holbrook House — the epitome of style and personalization for the best martini you’ll ever have. The charming staff will ensure you feel like a million bucks. Cheers!

Best seasonal activities for families?

Fall is the best season for Dungeness crab and gearing up for the holidays. A favorite family activity is taking the scenic drive down Pacific Coast Highway 1 to Half Moon Bay. Watch the crab boats come in and have the dock staff clean and cook your crab. To get into the holiday spirit early, stroll through the streets of merry old England at the annual Great Dickens Christmas Faire. Come dressed as your favorite Dickens character — huzzah!

Where to get an iconic or seasonal drink?

Irish coffee at The Buena Vista is a must-try on any list of iconic SF drinks. Hot and creamy with a kick, this delightful beverage is the perfect complement to a chilly fall day spent overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay. It’s even served at breakfast!

Best free things to do in the city?

Who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch? The beloved Historic John’s Grill Election Day Free Lunch happens every year on Nov. 5th — everyone who’s anyone in Bay Area politics attends.

For a quieter, free outing any day this fall, take a stroll along the Lands End Trail, where the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the bay will make you feel miles away from the hustle of the city, yet it’s just a Muni bus ride from Union Square.
