Your Hawaiian adventure won’t be complete without going to one of the top luaus on Maui. A Hawaiian luau is a traditional celebration of Polynesian culture through food, music and dance. Typically, a luau begins with Polynesian activities such as ulumaika (an ancient Hawaiian bowling game), hula dancing, kapa printing and more. Then, the imu celebration begins, which is the unearthing of the kalu pig.
Authentic Hawaiian cuisine is served at sunset, featuring poi, lomi salmon, kalua pig, poke and haupia dessert. To end the night, there are performances of traditional Polynesian dance, kahiko (traditional Hawaiian hula), drumming and fire dancing.
