Every Friday, this lovely town transforms their galleries, stalls and restaurants into a wonderful art fair. Composed of musicians, artists and vendors of all kinds, Hanapepe’s Annual Art Night shines a new light on the historic little town.

Paniolos were known as the Hawaiian Cowboys, and sprouted a tradition of competing in the sport of Rodeos because of their proud heritage. The Kauai All Girls Rodeo Association organizes events between a few spring and autumn months in order to keep this tradition alive. Encourage their pursuit of the sport and their history by showing up to their various events to see them barrel, round up goats, participate in team roping and more.
March 26, Prince Kuhio Day — This state and local holiday celebrates the birthdate of the adopted son of King Kalakaua and the nephew of Kalakaua’s wife, Queen Kapiolani, Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianiole. He became Hawaii’s first delegate to the U.S. Congress, when the islands were still just a territory, and served 10 terms before his death in 1922. Among his accomplishments, he created the Hawaiʻian Homesteads program to help landless Native Hawaiʻians. Every island has some commemoration, but Prince Kuhio’s birthplace of Kauai holds a month of special events and festivals, like the annual Anahola Prince Kuhio Day Celebration in Anahola Beach Park. In Koloa Town, its never summer without the Koloa Town Parade. If you have the time to visit the Anne Knudsen Park, you can enjoy a day filled with live music, local foods and crafts during this week long celebration. This family family event holds a silent auction, rides and bouncy houses for children to indulge in.
The Koala Plantation Days is a historical and cultural celebration unlike any other on the island. In 1835, workers of various ethnicities moved to Hawaii and helped the plantations flourish. The week-long event, held at the location of the first sugar plantations, celebrates Hawaiian history and the immigrants who contributed to Hawaii’s rich culture.

Take a break from the beach and get active by running in the Kaua’i Marathon and Half Marathon. The scenic course begins in Poipu and trails along the coast with views of volcanic peaks and the ocean.

Refine your evening with a little bit of wine as the Poipu Beach Foundation and Kauai Community College (KCC) team up to present their annual Poipu Food & Wine Festival. This 3-day event combined with the Pa‘ina Gala serves as a showcase to underscore Kauai’s diverse culinary history and the talent within the KCC’s Culinary Arts Program. With live music and fresh produce provided by Kauai sponsors, the festival is sure to provide a flavourful night to remember.
All chocolate and coffee lovers will not want to miss the Kauai Chocolate & Coffee Festival for a taste of Hawaiian specialties. The festival includes live entertainment, educational workshops and presentations, activities and more.
