Surf + Sand (surfandsand.co) opened early 2022 in downtown Mill Valley. It’s the new retail boutique offering sustainably made goods for coastal living: perfect for coastal lovers, travelers, and/or people that appreciate a more chic style. The founder and owner, Lauren Friis, grew up in a small surf town in Southern California where she spent her days at the beach and in the ocean. Her heart’s passion for the spirit of coastal culture led her on a journey to open up Surf + Sand.

Surf + Sand solely features sustainably made, eco-friendly products, reflecting Friis’ “heart-driven mission to connect people with independent makers whose creations enable us to do our part as a community in making the world a better, more beautiful place.” This mindful collection features a vast range of products: elegant, effortless wardrobe essentials; contemporary swimwear; naturally-derived wellness supplements, skincare, and scents; and artisanal accessories for the home and body, as well as fine jewelry. Friis’ broad scope of hand-selected goods from all over the world caters to those of all gender identities, ages, and sizes.
