The Palace Hotel and Ayesha Curry Team up for a Special Sweet July Pop-up

In the eyes of many basketball fans, Ayesha Curry is Steph’s wife who cooks — or can’t if you’re a troll. But in 2022, amassing an army of trolls is a legitimate signifier of success and the 33-year-old is nowhere near done riling them up as she keeps adding ventures to her ever-growing empire. Already a renowned restaurateur, New York Times best-selling author, philanthropist, tv host and producer, Curry launched a quarterly lifestyle magazine titled Sweet July in 2020, and in 2021, a lifestyle shop bearing the same name in Oakland. Appropriately, this July she brings an extension of her Oakland flagship to the iconic Palace Hotel, along with a special afternoon tea.

At the time of publication, there are still a couple time slots available for the Sweet July Tea, which is held at Palace Hotel’s Garden Court. The menu offers a blend of Garden Court favorites infused with recipes hand-selected by Ayesha including mini crab cake sandwiches with avocado sauce, “savory s’mores” and caramel pecan cheesecake bites. Sweet July’s signature bread pudding — a beloved staple served at the Oakland café — will also be making an appearance. Reservations are required and can be made on or by calling 415.546.5089.

The pop-up, which can be found directly in front of the Palace’s check-in desk, features Sweet July brand products alongside some of the top premium products from Black-owned companies and local Bay Area makers. Items include an assortment of soothing-toned, highly-giftable wares like nail polishes, lotions, water bottles, artisanal provisions, carry-alls and candles. The candles, one of the newest Sweet July-branded additions, come in three universally-pleasant yet distinct scents. Come check it out through the end of the month!
