Alpenglow Winter Speaker Series

January 6

Settle in for some adventure storytelling when backcountry snowboarder Nick Russell shares his exciting accounts exploring mountain ranges across six continents. Nick will share memorable stories from trekking Alaskas highest peaks to riding alongside penguins in Antarctica to roaming remote mountains across South America, the Middle East, Asia and beyond.

Evening Snowshoe Tours

January 1, 8, 21, 22, 29

From a guided tour to Alpine Meadowss mid-mountain chalet for a four-course meal and champagne (January 8, 22), to a trek up to Diamond Peaks Snowflake Lodge for smores and hot cocoa (January 21), to a twilight tour ending at The Village at Northstars fire pits (January 1, 8, 22, 29), night-time snowshoe tours are one of the most unique ways to enjoy the Sierras peace, quiet and beauty.

Tahoe Adventure Film Festival

January 8

Adventure sports filmmakers premiere their latest movies at Bally’s Lake Tahoe Casino Resort (formerly MontBleu). The event is complete with live entertainment including music and go-go dancers. After-party to follow with athletes and filmmakers at Opal UltraLounge.

Live Music on the Mountain

Fridays — Sundays

Get your groove on at Heavenly Mountain Resort every weekend this month. DJ Cat spins Saturdays and Sundays at East Peak from 12pm to 2pm, and live bands kick off après ski at Tamarack on Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm.

Stargazing Snowshoe Tour

January 15

Head out on a snowshoe tour with unobstructed views of the night sky. The tour features a lively, science-based talk about the cosmos and a poetry reading by local star guide and poet, Tony Berendsen, followed by constellation-viewing through high-powered, professional telescopes. Finish up at The Ritz-Carlton with Celestron telescope viewing and a hot drink to warm up.

Northstar Winter Live Music Series


Cozy up around a fire pit with a drink from the Cabana Bar or lace up your ice skates and enjoy live music at The Village at Northstar’s ice skating rink. There’s no better way to warm up on chilly winter days than boogying down with a cocktail in-hand.
